The Propensity

The Propensity from the Transits Series

The aluminum and wood structure supports a single piece of silk formed by a cocoon woven by two silkworms simultaneously. Unable to produce a continuous, uniform thread, they create a singular type of silk. What the industry discards, the artwork values. Within this interruption of the standard pattern, difference emerges as a form of potential.

I begin with an image in which the structure bursts apart and fragments. All of its parts are identical, except for one. In this way, the work stages the delicate tension between structure and movement, between balance and transformation, revealing the beauty that resides in the exceptional. Fragile in appearance, yet remarkably strong and enduring.

When confronted with the discovery of a particularity—sometimes unexpected, even unwanted—the possibility arises of choosing to exalt it and make visible the subtle beauty that emerges from that which departs from the norm.
