The Future is Prehistory
The Future is Prehistory
Elia Gasparolo – Santiago Rey
Site-specific installation in various locations throughout the Atacama Desert. Different situations from different moments in history, different ways of inhabiting the territory, and different forms of exploitation, such as nitrate mining and fishing, are represented through a series of scenes.
A reflection on the landscape, space, our relationship with space, and our relationship with the future and the past.
Geolocated scale models made from clay sourced from the Atacama Desert are incorporated into the landscape.
Work created for the SACO 1.0 Biennial (2021).
