Elia Gasparolo. 1978. Mendoza, Argentina.

Visual Artist

She is an English Translator and has been attending painting workshops since her adolescence. In Neuquén, she attended Graciela Islas’s painting workshop, then in Buenos Aires, Cecilia Ibarguren’s workshop, and initiated her studies at the University of the Arts.

Assistant in the management and production of Joaquín Fargas’ work (2017-2019). She collaborated in the creation of two robots, Glaciators (2017) for the First Antarctic Biennial, and in the design and realization of the work The Absolute Book (2018) presented at the National Library Mariano Moreno (Buenos Aires – Argentina) simultaneously with the Library of Alexandria (Egypt). She translated Joaquín Fargas’ book Consciousness and Art (2017).

She is co-author with Joaquín Fargas of the work Sparks of Nature (2018) carried out at the Cima Residency then exhibited at the San Martín Cultural Center (CCSM) as part of November Electronic 2018.

In 2019, she worked on the design and realization of Rabdomante, a robot on its expedition through the Atacama Desert exhibited at Maker Faire Rome and Robotika, an Artificial Intelligence robot exhibited at Ars Electronica (Linz – Austria) and in November Electronic 2019 at the CCSM. In the same year, she exhibited her drawings and paintings at Spectrum Miami during Miami Art Week.

She created the work Connective Tissue. Biotextiles with Memory (2020), a dress and jewelry pieces made with biomaterials. In the same year, she created the archaeological work The Future is Prehistory (2020) in various locations in the Atacama Desert alongside Santiago Rey for the SACO Biennial.

In 2021, she created Possible Landscapes, an ephemeral and site-specific installation in different natural environments of the Entre Ríos province within the framework of the Materia Residency along with Guillermo Vezzosi.

In April 2021, she exhibited the performative collaboration Pajama at Galería Praxis alongside Mamitek Vibradios and Gaspar Libedinsky. In the same year, she exhibited biotextile jewelry from the Connective Tissue series at Praxis and Jolie Bistro.

In October 2021, she exhibited The Future is Prehistory at the Antofagasta Museum as part of the SACO 1.0 Biennial (Chile) and the Connective Tissue work at Maker Faire Rome.

In 2022, she performed Offerings on the Argentine coast and in the province of Mendoza.

She exhibited a piece of Malbec biotextile from the Connective Tissue series in the Vigil Winery collection. She exhibited the mobile, a site-specific collaboration with Libedinsky, Intocable (2020) as part of Casa Tomada-Gaspar Libedinsky at the MNAD (2022), a retrospective show of Libedinsky’s workshop of which she is the production director and played a general coordination role in said exhibition. She researched the life cycle of Bombyx Mori and created the work Transits exhibited at the Parque del Conocimiento in Misiones (2023).

In August 2023, she exhibited at the Fortabat Collection space the work Possible Cartographies for Changing Seas in the collective exhibition of the Dr. Rossi Foundation.

She continues in a constant learning process.
